About Us
Home Start is a voluntary organisation, supporting local families who are experiencing difficulties or under stress.
They have a team of dedicated, skilled volunteers with parenting experience, who visit families in the family's own home for 2-3 hours per week. Volunteers are given appropriate training and are checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) prior to being matched with families.
Friendship, coordinated support and practical help are offered. Volunteers build on parent’s skills; help boost self-esteem and confidence whilst enabling them to cope with the pressures of family life. Their aim is to help reduce stress and prevent crisis and breakdown. Home-Start also has a number of other roles on a short to medium term basis - please see below for more information.
Who is Home-Start for?

The core service is for any family living in Trafford, Salford or Wigan & Leigh who have at least one child under the age of 5 and who maybe finding it hard to cope. They also run other projects that some families may benefit from, for example Trafford families with older children, specialist Parent Infant Mental Health in Trafford & Salford.
